Studio one in based in Morningside, Edinburgh, Scotland. Studio One was founded in 1966 by John Johnson, a retired school tech teacher turned furniture maker. A new wave of optimism during the 60’s led to a revived interest in home decor after the long period of austerity following the Second World War. Music art and literature were all undergoing exciting change, foreign travel was on the rise, and furniture was to go through a fundamental change, too.

What We Offer:

Homer in Aberfeldy sits alongside the award-winning Watermill bookstore. It is housed in an old stone barn, in a tranquil setting. We set up Homer in Aberfeldy some ten years ago, and following its success opened another branch in Edinburgh. The business works happily in tandem with the Watermill next door, so customers will see ourselves and staff flitting between the two, guiding customers around the labyrinth and plugging gaps at lunchtime!

Just outside of the main shopping area, this little store is well worth visiting. Homeware are organised by room and are of very high quality. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Homer is a fantastic example of how a focus on quality allows a local shop can beat larger cheaper rivals. Homer has such superb quality items, a collection of interesting and unusual items for the home. The scented candles are superb and half the price of other stores. Try this place!
