What We Offer:

A warm welcome to the Blue Parrot Cantina. serving traditional Mexican food and classic cocktails since 1993.
Situated in Edinburgh New Town’s Stockbridge district, you will find us in a cosy, rustic basement half way along St Stephen Street. With an open kitchen and outside toilets, our cantina is often described as “quirky”. We offer a range of freshly prepared meats, fish and vegetarian starters and main courses, with the emphasis on healthiness and flavour rather than heat. All of our dishes are home made and cooked to order, so it is possible that they can be tweaked to individual requirements i.e. free of gluten, nuts, dairy, heat, etc.  Just mention it to the waiting staff.

My husband and I had the loveliest ever evening meal at Blue Parrot on our recent stay in Edinburgh.Stater cocktail and fabulous homemade corn tortillas and dip.
This place is a gem. I discovered it before I left Edinburgh and was so glad it was still here when I returned. Amazing food and lots of choices, especially for vegetarians. Great cocktails too!
Fantastic placeserving sole freshly made food and delicious margaritas. I’ve been coming here with my wife for 15 years and what we love is everything is consistently good quality.

Fresh Mex is becoming one of our favourite take-away’s. It’s fresh, it’s tasty and it’s filling. Staff are really nice too. Good variety of options/fillings and the calie burritos are jam packed and full of flavour. Definitely recommend.
It’s simply amazing food. Ordered couple of weeks ago. Two burritos, one vegan, other with everything. I’m surprised about rice, well spiced. Rolls super tasty

Great lunch, we were really impressed to hear that it’s a nut free restaurant so perfect for nut allergy sufferers. They also took great care to accommodate my other allergies.

What We Offer:

Our eats are influenced by our favourite taquerias, cantinas and street side carts to bring you a real taste of Mexico. The flavours are fresh and zesty and every dish is made to order from scratch. Take our tortillas, they are a real labour of love! We use traditional Masa Harina (corn flour) to make the dough balls which are then individually hand pressed. This is something we do every day, it may take a while but it is 100% worth it for that authentic taste. Even our hot sauce is made in house. It’s a fiery combination of 4 different chillies: ancho, morita, arbol and habanero which will leave your taste buds tingling!

SPECIALITY:

From burritos and tacos to the ‘Drowned Sandwich’ we have all bases covered. Chilli Chicken (tender chicken breast, cooked with spicy green chillies, with cumin and kashmiri chilli)

Lovely staff and great service. Space is decorated perfectly and the music was great. I had a couple veggie options including the cheese and leek tacos and they were amazing! Highly recommend.
A nice, new place just near the Royal Mile – just open, it’s fresh, colourful, ‘Mexican’. Choice of food enough just to eat sth, portions rather small so just take Two 🙂 – friendly, helpful staff.
Have been to all the El Cartel locations and love this one the best. Amazing Mexican food… definitely get the ribs, though it’s tough to choose a favorite from the menu
